Father of the YearNOMINATIONS have closed for the Cardinia YMCA Community Father of the Year Award for 2010. It is 100 years since Father’s Day was first celebrated in 1910 by a YMCA in the United States of America and Cardinia LiFE manager Wade Mackrell said that this important annual event celebrates the significant role fathers and male role models play in our community. Primary school and pre-school aged children were invited to nominate their dad – or someone who is like their dad – by writing or drawing about why their father or father figure (it could be a brother, uncle, grandfather or friend) is special to them. The winner will be announced shortly. |
